OnlyCuraçao guides are designed to help you make better decisions before the trip and calmer decisions while you are on the island. Use this guide as a practical starting point, then verify anything time-sensitive directly with the relevant business or authority.

01Plan two main beaches, not an exhausting checklist
02Leave early with water, sun protection and an offline map
03Never leave passports, cash or bags visible in a parked car
04Check each beach's access, facilities and current rules

Choose the kind of west-coast day you want

Some travelers want a dramatic lookout and a simple swim; others need toilets, shade, food and a comfortable place to spend most of the afternoon. Decide which matters before drawing your route. A beautiful photograph does not tell you whether a beach suits a small child, an older traveler or someone who dislikes rocky entry.

Pick one first-choice beach and one second stop nearby. Keep a third option only as a backup for weather, crowding or a change of plans.

Build an easy morning, not a race

Start before the day becomes hottest and carry enough drinking water. Download your route in advance, check the rental agreement and make sure the driver knows which roads the company permits.

A viewpoint near Grote Knip can make a strong first stop, while another cove farther along the route may offer a longer, quieter swim. The exact order matters less than leaving enough time to enjoy each place properly.

Match your beach to its facilities

Managed beaches can be useful when you need shade, a lunch option, a restroom or equipment rental. Smaller coves may offer fewer services and can require a different packing list. Entrance conditions, chair hire, operating hours and available facilities can change, so verify the current information before driving.

Look at how you actually enter the water, not only the view from the road. A calm-looking beach can still have rocks, steps or local conditions that are uncomfortable for your group.

  • Water and sun protection
  • A towel, suitable footwear and dry change of clothes
  • Only the payment cards and cash you need
  • A charged phone with an offline map
  • The accommodation address and rental-company contact

Park carefully and respect the coast

Use an appropriate parking area, lock the vehicle and keep valuables out of sight. Leaving documents in a beach bag on a visible back seat can turn a relaxing day into an unnecessary problem.

Follow local instructions, keep to marked paths and take every piece of packaging away with you. Do not stand on coral, collect wildlife or chase marine animals for a closer photo.

Leave the return journey some breathing room

Finish the day while you still have enough daylight, energy and water for the drive back. If you are planning a city dinner, allow time to shower and change rather than building a schedule around the most optimistic map estimate.

If you discover one beach you love, stay longer and skip the next pin. Curaçao does not become more memorable because you opened more locations on your phone.

Choose the lunch stop after you know which beach deserves more time. A flexible afternoon is worth more than a beautifully crowded itinerary.
