OnlyCuraçao guides are designed to help you make better decisions before the trip and calmer decisions while you are on the island. Use this guide as a practical starting point, then verify anything time-sensitive directly with the relevant business or authority.
Choose a family base, not only a pretty room
Look at sleeping arrangements, kitchen access, laundry, parking and the distance to food. A beautiful stay that requires a long drive for every meal can make family days harder than necessary.
If children nap, check whether the room, pool and restaurant layout allow one adult to relax nearby. Ask the property directly about cribs, high chairs and pool barriers.
Match the beach to the child
A family beach decision should include water entry, waves, shade, toilets, food and the distance from parking—not only the photograph. Conditions can change, so look at the water before everyone settles in.
Bring suitable flotation equipment, but treat it as an aid rather than supervision. An adult should remain focused on children around water at all times.
Protect the middle of the day
Use mornings for walks, nature or more active play, then slow down during the hottest part of the day. Shade, water, protective clothing and regular breaks are part of the itinerary, not interruptions to it.
A late afternoon swim or sunset walk can bring the energy back without forcing another major attraction.
Pack the small problem-solvers
Keep one day bag ready so you are not repacking the whole suitcase every morning. Include familiar snacks for transitions, while still inviting children to taste local food without pressure.
- Refillable water bottles
- Sun hats and protective swimwear
- Water shoes where appropriate
- Dry clothes and a light layer for air conditioning
- Any medicine and basic first-aid items you normally use
Plan one adult priority and one child-friendly priority each day. If both happen, the day is already successful.
